Toyota used to make stuff other than beigemobiles. Check out the cool stuff we saw at the meet last weekend!

Original post is here.

Last weekend a few of us drove out to Priority Toyota Chesapeake for the annual meet hosted by Mid-Atlantic Yotas and the Mideast Region Supra Owners Club. I had been to this meet a few years back and finally got to go back this year.

Obviously being hosted by a Supra club, there were a ton of examples of Toyota’s flagship performance car to oogle over.

The JZA80 (MK4) has such classic lines, I don’t see demand for these cars ever going down.

This gorgeously restored MA60 Celica-Supra was a big draw with it’s clean 2JZ swap.

Supras weren’t the only thing there though, MR2’s had a pretty good showing as well. It’s too bad I couldn’t bring mine!

Willie’s stacked 3S-GTE is always a hit. I love this car!

While most people seem to flock to the SW20 chassis, I will always be partial to the original AW11 MR2.

Another big part of Toyota’s history is 4WD, so on to the trucks!

These lifted 4Runners and a low, supercharged X-Runner showed some awesome contrast being right next to each other.

I adore old 4Runners. Why can’t we have manual 4wd SUV’s with removable roofs any more? Somebody really should bring that back.

This one looks ready for the zombie apocalypse or the set of Mad Max.

Deez nuts!

The black X-Runner was rocking this cool TRD supercharger. I LOVE these trucks.

There were a few 4A-GE-powered cars present in the form of AE86 Corollas as well

This imported AE86 Trueno won “Best Corolla”

I will never not like Hayashi Streets. They look so good on pretty much every classic Japanese car ever.

Mitchell’s Celica gets mistaken for an AE86 all the time, so I thought it was pretty funny that they all parked around it.

My Cressida Wagon was the only X7 generation Cressida, but there were two X8’s!

This stock-looking X8 was one of two 1UZ V8 swapped Cressidas present. Unfortunately both of them promptly blew coolant everywhere upon arrival.

Fortunately it was an easy fix for both cars. The tan car had a pulley wear through a hose, and this one just needed the electric fans to be reconnected properly. I’d love to do this swap in my wagon!

That’s about it for my coverage of the event. I hope to be able to check it out next year!

The MK2 is definitely my favorite of all of them. I don’t much care for how the MK4 looks other than the side profile.

I do too then they don’t have a 2JZ and a different drive train (assuming mk3). Built it into an entirely different car, which is his prerogative obviously, just not my cup of tea.

I wasn’t able to make it this year.

BTW I’m the guy with the minty silver MK1. It’s currently down with a coolant leak somewhere in front of the cabin (either the heatercore hoses or clamps). Pic to refresh your memory:
